
DESTINED TO BE QUEEN
World Premiere, DOC NYC (25')
Directed by Olivia Zimmerman, ‘Destined to Be Queen’ is a short documentary produced in partnership with TOGETHXR. The film had its World Premiere at the DOC NYC Film Festival in November 2025. The story follows Brianna Alers, a Bronx-born Latina boxer who turns to the sport to overcome school bullying. The film culminates with her national title win at the USA Junior Olympics. It will continue its international festival run in 2026. Trailer.

THE LATINA GIRLS CLUB

The Latina Girls Club (currently entitled), is a feature-length coming-of-age story set in South Central L.A. It follows an all-Latina, predominantly LGBTQ+ soccer club as they fight for a National Cup title in their final season. Captains (and girlfriends) Nayelli and Luzy chase professional dreams while navigating racism, cultural expectations, and a broken soccer system. Filmed over five years, the project blends cinéma vérité footage with the team’s personal iPhone videos, creating a raw, intimate portrait of their lives on and off the field.

ENCANTADO

Encantado is a short, hybrid documentary exploring the legend of the Amazon river's pink dolphin, the boto. Scripted and reenacted by Amazonian teenagers, the film weaves folklore, environmental conservation, and local cultural traditions into a poetic exploration of life in the region. The film explores the complex intersection of folklore, climate change, and human interactions in the Amazon. This project is made in partnership with Future Being.
